Located in Orland, California—in the heart of the Northern Sacramento Valley—Belle & Bug Farms sits on some of the most fertile ground in the world. Coupled with its Mediterranean-like climate and growing seasons makes it possible to grow just about anything, including the Sevillano olives that make our award-winning extra virgin olive oil. We also grow saffron, oranges, mandarins, peaches, pecans, and seasonal cut flower bouquets for our local customers.

Kate
Seed Planter
Growing up in the mild climate of the Bay Area of California, Kate developed a passion for eating with the seasons and knowing where her food came from. Coupled with a love for animals she decided to study veterinary medicine, specializing in food animal production. She started her career as a large animal dairy vet in the Central Valley. A few years later she entered into mixed animal practice, met Patrick, bought a farm, and started a family. Few things besides spending time with her family make her happier than growing flowers.
Patrick
Seed Keep-Aliver
Patrick is a sixth-generation farmer. He grew up raising livestock and stacking hay bales in Northern Nevada. However his new found agricultural passion here in the Sacramento valley is raising trees—olives, stone fruit, and citrus. The orchard is his happy place. He’s just as content standing in the leafless orchard of winter planning his next pruning cuts as he is picking ripe warm peaches in the middle of summer harvest.
Why Belle and Bug Farms?
Belle and Bug Farms is named after the reason we bought a farm--our kids. We wanted them to experience what it is like to plant a seed and watch it grow into something wonderful, as well as the circle of life and the loss that feels like it comes more often than not on a farm. We also wanted to teach them important life skills and lessons that are crucial on a farm and will serve well later on as adults—like hard work, dedication, reaping what you sow, and finding a purpose and a passion.
